Testing & Technical Services

Lorient offers a variety of specialist testing services for manufacturers and designers from our testing centre in the UK. Whether it’s evaluating new materials, developing new or updating existing products, our team of experts is here to assist. Our areas of expertise include:

Acoustic Testing – Lorient Transmission Suite

Lorient’s state-of-the-art Acoustic Transmission Suite, commissioned in 2013 features the latest Brüel & Kjær sound measurement technology. It was designed and purpose-built to meet the requirements of ISO 10140 – Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements.

Our acoustic transmission suite is run by a fully trained, knowledgeable Technical Consultant, who will oversee the testing process from start to finish; and guide you through the maze of regulations. Working closely together, we’ll design a test programme to meet your specific requirements. Our technicians have many years’ experience building test specimens, and we also offer an installation service. Once the testing programme is complete, a number of options are available including a summary report; or a comprehensive report underwritten by a recognised Acoustic Consultant. Below are a number of different construction products that can be tested – this list is not exhaustive.

  • Door assemblies
  • Windows & glazing systems
  • Partitioning systems
  • Operable walls
  • Access Panels

Lorient Indicative Fire Test Furnace

Our indicative furnace has proven popular for many years, providing customers with real insight into their products’ performance. Using our furnace, the fire resistance properties of building materials can be tested in accordance with AS1530.4 and performance evaluated. An invaluable tool for R&D it allows designs to be refined before committing to expensive final NATA certification testing.
The furnace is ideal for characterising and evaluating the performance of a number of areas including:

  • Bushfire FZ resistance
  • Fire resistant glazing (including screens)
  • Fire Door Hardware
  • Fire dampers.
